We will stay here untill sunday 27th then back home to Norway for a few days, building the olympic bike and getting everything ready. Then off to Beijing the 11th august. Stay in "precamp" for a few days then to the Olympic village. Athletes are not allowed to report from the Olympics on websites so as from august this website will pretty much be dead for a month.
Great Britain had theyr olympic trails here last week. Liam Phillips ended up winning it and is going to the OG for GB.
Mamma Pappa. Petter, Anders, Kim Erik, Frode, Andre, Svein, Årstein, Sandnes BMX, Levi, Arvid, Marianne, Jan T, Steffen, Spinn Sykkelshop, Sondre,, det er såååå mange. Inser at å lage en liste blir litt dumt. Men takk til alle!
Today is the
first "summer race" in Valkenswaard. Good luck to those. For
me this day started with a wingate test. I planned it yesterday with my
coach while doing gates, but today when I called him he had forgotten
about it, think he is getting old.Wingate - basicly a test to measure
how much watts pr kilo body wheight you can produce. + a bunch of other
datas. It lasts 30sec and its a full sprint. It hurts so much and it is
unbeliveble how much pain and how tired you can get in only 30 secs! I
put a camera behind the bike, didnt work out too good but you can see
how it goes down. I guess most racers have been through this one. I
found another test at youtube, this one is hillarious, check it - http://youtube.com/watch?v=_BQd3E1sYyg Wingate
test video 4x worlds last weekend in Italy. Graves and Roger was favourites come final time. Graves and Roger coming side by side into first turn and Deldycke blasting both giving Alvarez the win. Roger coming trough and making another podium with 2nd. DH was insane, maybe more interesting than the 4x. Sam Hill smoked everyone till the last turns where he slid out, poor man! Watch his runs, DH and 4X at freecaster.com. Norway has been pretty rainy the last weeks. But the track can hold up loads of water so whenever it doesnt rain we can ride and do gates. But the gym is indoors so.. Upgraded my
bike yesterday. Also testing out the maxxis DTH tire, did some tests this winther but that was only indoor. Sounds like F1?
Days go by.
The "summer race" that should be at Sandnes in august got
canceled. I guess the organizers saw the entry list for Valkenswaard and
90% of the riders where dutch, only a few foreign riders. And 3 jr/Elite
woman. Upcoming weekend is the 4x worlds in Italy, freecaster is covering the event, the worlds are always a good one. USOC Olympic qualifying Chula Vista
Been watching some forums to get the latest USAC news hehe. Mikey Day won the trails race in Chula vista and by doing so, is locked into the 2nd spot on US olympic team. Donny looks to be coaches pick. My guess for the team: Kyle, Mikey, Donny and Cisar as alternate. Looks like
Mikey dropping the worlds for Chula Vista training payed off,,, big
time..
Finally back home, it was a long trip. But probably even longer for junior Andre Aguiluz. He went down hadr in his 3rd crusier moto and broke his collarbone svereal places and his shoulderblade. Sauced up with loads of painkillers and bandages he started his long trip home. I could see he was in LOADS of pain, but who wants to operate in China? The drugs definetly affected his mood as well but he managed like a champ. Now he is finally home at his folks and decent hospitals. Lets hope for a quick recovery. No matter what this kid is one of the fastest.
Im back home to my normal life, it was good to see my family again. How the rest of my year or next year as well is gonna look like I dont know yet. There is a few things that needs to get sorted out first.
Worlds: 1 Maris
Strombergs LAT I had
motos with Bennet, Cisar, Calluag, Zentins and Phillips. 3-4-4 and on to
the 1/8. Cant really explain why but in my 1/8 my gate was the worst gate all day,
it really didnt deserve a Q spot in a 1/8 in the worlds. Ended up 6th.
One spot from making it to the olympics. I had one chance and blew it
big time. Its been a tuff day after going out of that 1/8 final like
that. Mostly blaming myself cause it was all my mistake. I would have
been glad if it had worked, but I also think you need to show you can do
a good race to compete in Beijing. My good race wasnt today... So, the world must go on. It always does, even though my future could have been a lot easier after this race. Then its good to come home to Silje and Benjamin, he always makes me happy, and this photo pretty much saved the day. At his grandparents house taking a bath outside Started training again monday. Feels ok, but I can feel its been over a week since last training. Pro section is up and running at Sandnes, it works out and is pretty cool but the second one is a little easy and maybe we have to put on another meter. Today I did another taking with a comedy program on television. It was pretty funny. Me racing this comedian in different ways. Show is not on untill autum though. What does Hockey players do for training? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxEgILozStk&e
Under the cicumstances we decided to drop the World cup in Denmark next weekend. So next race is now the world champs in China. Hopefully I can start train again for that race, for sure is gonna be a though one!
i Kina.
For min
bli frisk. Thomas Hamon
FRA wins Elite crusier. Tommorow round 11 of the European Champs is on!!
May is here and only a few weeks left till the worlds. I feel a lttle tired after back to back racing for over a month and a lot of travelling, it will be good with some days at home before heading to China! But first off, european finals in Germany!
Idag gidde Kim Erik meg god konkurranse rundt banen. Andre gikk i bommen igjen.

Strombergs Rode ok
today, the gate is wierd so didnt hit it perfect every time. Qualified
from motos, come from behind in the 1/8. Outside in the 1/4 with a
really good gate. In the semi I actually hit the gate so was kinda stuck
from the start. Got back and had a 4th/5th in the 3rd turn, tire slipped
and the cesar crashed in front of me. Lots of excuses, gate wasnt good
enough anyways. New day tommorow! Yesterdays practice went ok. It got delayed cause of the gate broke down. Gate isnt really random gate - drops at the same point every time. Cause of rain yesterday the hill got really slippery and a couple of riders went down when not using the anti-spin. The crew didnt swep the hill though. Rain came down all night long. But now its i windy and sunny so track is probably drying up, we`ll see. Went to the
olympic museum today, with was nice. Also saw Fabien Cancellara training
on his timetrail bike on our way home.
Our race was rained out, track was pretty wet but it worked. First straight was super muddy. After Qualifying both me and Andre has a 1-1-1. So I tought maybe Andre was the biggest competition today. Picked lane 4 with the other ones inside. Had a pretty good gate and held it in. Next race is Switzerland next weekend. If the weather holds up I guess it will be a good race. I am looking forward to it, getting back to real races.
1 Sebastian Kartfjord -
Sandnes BMX Summer
Games in Norway this August. Prize money PRO PURSE €18.000!!!!!!!
Maybe the best prize money in the world for such a race?
In the OZ it looks like
Donny Robinson picked up a timetrail win followed by Strombergs. By the
pictures track looks really good and fun to race. Maybe it is easier to
build first straights with lower starting ramp? Thinking about
overshooting the first jump. We`ll see how the race goes. Why isnt
Freecaster covering our Nationals instead? Probably was a hard decision. 1. Sebastian Kartfjord, Sandnes
BMX Ser ut som Sandnes BMX
plukkte opp både 1 og 2 - foregangsklubben! Supercross in Australia, Adelaide is hosted this weekend. Freecaster is sending the show sunday. Our team is not going, instead we are staying home doing nationals, way much better races! :D
Today started with some plyos in the gym here at the Olympic training centre in Norways capital Oslo. Its pretty cool here. Going to the gym you meet a lot of celebrity athletes winning both olympic and world medals. Primeminister even came by for some weights. Then later we had invited the press and a lot more people shoved up than expected. So today BMX has been on TV and the biggest newspapers. Did some sprinting and I did a lot of interviews. So it turned out to be a pretty good day! Now we are heading home. Forecasts looks good and hopefully the new gate at my track is done now. Should be good to ride outdoors again, pretty fed up with the indoor dust. Here are some links to videos/interviews with tv and newspapers NRK - http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/distrikt/rogaland/verdi/49602 Dagbladet - http://www.dagbladet.no/sport/2008/04/08/531939.html Aftenposten - http://www.aftenposten.no/webtv/?id=9468&cat=2
See my 40 secs of fame on television here. Did another taking with a TV
channel today. They have finally understood whats going on with bmx and
olympics. Broght Anders and Andre today for the takings. We spent about
2 hours on a track, the last 40 minutes with pouring rain. Always a
little stressfull doing takes like this. So much riding long brakes then
full laps again :D
